Back in rhythm. Forward in focus: Design your workplace

06/09/2025

startWhen summer says goodbye, the true new beginning starts for many: the season of coming back and rethinking. Instead of making good intentions in January, we should celebrate September as a gentle but powerful repositioning – a “now is the right time” in everyday life – even where we work.

A home office that provides focus instead of chaos. An office for clarity instead of distraction. What does a workplace that supports precisely this impulse feel like?

Back to school – and beyond

Of course, fall is the classic starting point for pupils and students. But returning to (working) life after a break also affects many. The right workplace is crucial – not only to work efficiently, but also so that we consciously and happily go to it.

What you should think about

  • Light: Natural daylight in the office lends liveliness – in addition, luminaires should support relaxation and concentration. It is important to position the screen correctly so as not to strain the eyes.

  • Ergonomics: A finely tuned relationship between chair and desk helps to maintain posture and focus.
  • Order: Structure creates clarity – small shelves or organized surfaces allow thoughts to flow more freely. This is often neglected, especially when working from home.

  • Acoustics: Anyone who holds daily telephone calls or video conferences knows that poor room acoustics make it nerve-wracking for the other person to listen.
  • Aesthetics: More than function: a beautifully designed workplace inspires. Materials, colors and proportions have a subliminal effect, give pleasure and make thinking easier.

Working where you like to be

Some people can work anywhere, but most of us feel that the right place makes tasks easier. Even the unloved tax return has a different effect when it is done in a place that conveys calm, beauty and clarity. It is precisely there – in this home of everyday life – that the Nordic way lies, making the essential visible and tangible.

Less chaos, more focus

A consciously designed workplace not only offers structure – it provides calm, clarity and a form of lightness. A space that you visit, not avoid. A space that inspires and does not tire.
