Task: For the co-working space in the newly built HortusFor the Herzog & de Meuron building in Allschwil, Basel, Senn Development needed a well thought-out furnishing concept and suitable furniture. The aim was to create a workspace that would meet the high demands of the project in terms of both function and atmosphere.

Challenge: Under the guiding principle

„Hortus stands for radical sustainability - also in terms of the working environment.“

the central task was to find furnishings that were both inspiring and responsible. The furnishings not only had to underline the building's ambitious sustainability goals, but also flexibly support the diversity of user groups - from individual freelancers to start-ups and larger project teams - and create ideal conditions for concentrated work.

Result:

The result is an aesthetically and functionally convincing working environment that picks up on the architectural quality of the timber construction and carries it forward. The furnishings combine restrained, durable design with high-quality, ecologically responsible materials - creating an atmosphere that promotes calm, creativity and community. Modular, flexible elements allow the space to adapt to a wide variety of working styles while remaining inviting, warm and inspiring. The co-working space in the Hortus thus becomes the ideal interface between sustainable architecture and a future-oriented working culture.
