Modern Nordic elegance for art-loving residents
The task: Having already worked with us on the design of their previous home in Zurich and their flat in the Alps, this active, art-loving couple sought our expertise again for a home that would suit them well into old age. The challenge was to combine the existing furnishings with new pieces to preserve the history of the house while updating the style.
The challenge: The transition from a 1920s house to modern architecture meant a significant change. Our task was to bring a sense of warmth to each room by recommending furniture, colours and curtains that complemented the new design and all the artwork.
The result: The functional layout includes direct access from the garage to the ground floor with a spacious cloakroom and adjoining facilities. On the second floor are the main and guest entrances as well as a separate granny flat. The couple's private retreat on the third floor includes bedrooms, walk-in wardrobes, en-suite bathrooms as well as a quiet library and TV room with access to a terrace. The upper floor offers a spacious open-plan area with a first-class kitchen, dining area and living area, complemented by two terraces - one overlooking Lake Zurich and the other overlooking the garden, which includes its own herb and fruit orchard.
“The task was to combine the existing furniture with the newly added pieces. holm° succeeded in doing this in a very harmonious way. It was always a creative and inspiring collaboration.”
