So, how do we provide for a good night’s sleep? In order for us to sleep as best as we can we need an ideal room temperature of 16-18°C. The air should be clean and fresh, the room dark and quiet. And if the humidity stays around 45-55%, we have pretty much reached the ideal conditions for a good night’s sleep. Of course, you also need a bed that provides support and that adjusts perfectly to your body. It should allow the air to circulate freely, so that the bed is kept as dry as possible in order not to attract dust mites. But what else should we think about when purchasing a bed? We asked Jonas Banestig, Export & Global Business Development Manager at Carpe Diem Beds of Sweden, to give us a quick run-through of the most important issues:
Why does a Carpe Diem bed contribute to a good night’s sleep – what is so special about your beds?
The simple answer to this question is our principle of sleeping “in” and not “on” the bed. It allows the body to sink into the mattress in order to achieve maximum pressure relief and adjustment to your body. Surface softness is not enough to support your body and relieve it from pressure points, you need a complete spring system underneath to achieve this.
What should I think about when selecting which Carpe Diem bed to invest in?
As a basic principle, you can say that a system with three levels of springs offers a higher level of pressure relief and support, but please do not only consider your weight, but also the way you are built. In addition, think about how you prefer to sleep – on the side, back or stomach – this might influence your choice of a top mattress. A third point to consider when you invest in a bed that will last many years, is other needs, such as adjustability, which not only is useful if you like to read, work or watch television, but also frees from blood circulation interference. Finally, it is important to select an appropriate pillow for your bed, that’s why we also sell specially developed pillows and duvets.
What is the story behind Carpe Diem Beds of Sweden?
Already during the founding of the company, our main and most important principle concerned pressure relief and adjustment. Carpe Diem cooperated with Sahlgrenska University Hospital to develop the first pocket spring prototypes. That knowledge is cherished and is, still today, the fundamental principle of all our beds.
