House of Finn Juhl. A Danish design brand that continues to preserve Finn Juhl's sculptural furniture designs to this day with exceptional craftsmanship and precision.
Sculptural Danish Modern. Handcrafted.
House of Finn Juhl preserves the work of one of the most original figures of Danish Modernism. As early as 1940, Finn Juhl introduced an organic, almost sculptural design language to the world of furniture with the Pelican Chair. In doing so, he anticipated the softer lines that would come to define international style in the 1950s. With the 45 Chair in 1945, he visibly separated the seat from the supporting structure. The Chieftain Chair from 1949 later became an icon of Danish Midcentury Modern and contributed significantly to the international recognition of Danish design.
Juhl viewed furniture not merely as a structure, but as freely shaped objects in space. His designs appear to float, with soft contours and, at the same time, precise proportions. They thus stand in deliberate contrast to the strictly functionalist tradition of his time.
Today’s reissues from House of Finn Juhl are crafted based on original drawings and with meticulous craftsmanship. Fine woods, exquisite upholstery, and subtle details lend these design classics a tactile quality that is immediately apparent.
We carry House of Finn Juhl because this furniture opens up a whole new world of design. It is radically unique, artistically conceived, and remains surprisingly modern to this day.
