Louis Poulsen. Danish lighting design since 1874. Lights that precisely direct light and create ambiance.
"Design to Shape Light.".
Louis Poulsen is one of the defining names in Danish lighting design and architectural designer lighting. Since 1874, the brand has been developing lighting fixtures whose form is not conceived primarily as an object, but rather emerges from the effect of the light.
This approach was particularly influenced by Poul Henningsen. His three-shade system, developed in the 1920s, turned the creation of glare-free, softly diffused light into a design challenge. Design icons such as the PH 5 pendant lamp, the sculptural PH Artichoke, Arne Jacobsen’s AJ table lamp and floor lamp, Verner Panton’s Panthella, and Øivind Slaatto’s Patera demonstrate how consistently Louis Poulsen views light as a spatial element.
The focus is not on the light fixture alone, but on the effect it creates in the room. Controlled reflection, balanced light distribution, and a gentle light pattern create an atmosphere that is both functionally precise and pleasantly soft.
We carry Louis Poulsen as an authentic benchmark brand for Scandinavian lighting and architectural lighting—for living spaces, dining areas, work environments, and projects where light is not merely decorative but is thoughtfully designed.
