50 pieces pp501

A very rare opportunity for design lovers: SOLD OUT

To celebrate its 75th anniversary, PP Møbler is presenting a limited edition of the pp501 in teak.
There will be 50 examples of this special edition, each numbered and with an engraved brass plaque under the seat.
The price is CHF 10,500.

The anniversary model can be ordered from June 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

The wood used is Burma teak, which has been stored for many years.
This long storage has allowed the wood to dry and mature optimally.
Burma teak is known for its exceptional quality, durability and beautiful golden color.

Hans J. Wegner presented the pp501 with a woven seat and back for the first time at the Fall Cabinetmakers’ Fair in 1949.

Wegner himself called the chair ‘The Round One’, although he did not tend to give his furniture names.
The chair marked a major breakthrough for both Wegner and the Danish design export.
It became an iconic representative of Danish furniture design and Wegner’s exceptional craftsmanship.

Its simple yet elegant form expresses the best of Danish modernism and functionality, and the chair quickly became popular on the American market and gained international recognition.
This opened doors for other Danish designers and manufacturers worldwide.

The following 5-minute film describes the process of making this unique piece:

In addition to its continental beds, adjustable models, frame beds and bed frames, Carpe Diem Beds is now expanding its collection by one more series and introducing “The iconic Collection”.

The unique selling point of this collection is that the models models appear to float.

Kungsö – is based on the very popular Härmanö model and is available in widths of 180 and 210 cm and lengths of 200 and 210 cm.
The central leg has a height of 18 cm.

Kungsö is an eye-catcher with or without a headboard.

Hällsö – a frame bed that is available either with a frame in walnut or upholstered in fabric.
Hällsö is a frame bed with ingenious ventilation via the base plate, ensuring optimum ventilation and a healthy sleeping climate.
Hällsö goes perfectly with the CDB spring mattresses Stora Harpö and Lilla Harpö.
This means that Carpe Diem Beds comfort can also be enjoyed in a wooden bed.

If a bed gable is desired, the Pinnö and Rivö models are suitable.

Vindö – Vindö is the next generation adjustable bed.
This adjustable bed combines a spectacular floating design with luxurious comfort.
Vindö is available in widths of 90, 105, 180 and 210 cm and in length 210.

The following applies to every model:

  • Different firmnesses can be guaranteed with the CS-Pocket System: soft, medium, firm and extra firm.
  • 44 high-quality fabrics make it possible to personalize the bed and design it according to your own preferences and style.

The background of Carpe Diem Beds:

Carpe Diem Beds was founded 25 years ago by chiropractor Börje Thuleskär, who firmly believed in the importance of sleep for the body and mind.
He searched for the best mattress on the market, but was not impressed with what he found.
One day he fell asleep on a bed made of heather, where he realized that nature conformed to his body much better than any bed he had ever had.
This prompted him to set out in search of the perfect bed, one that would mimic the feeling of weightlessness he had experienced on the heather.

The search took thousands of hours and involved a partnership with the spinal unit at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Sweden.
The result was Carpe Diem Beds’ patented Contour Pocket System, which has a unique cushioning ability.
It gently yields and supports at the same time, instantly adapting to the contours of your body and changing with every movement.
You can feel the mattress hugging your hips and shoulders while gently supporting your lumbar spine and waist.
Your spine is relieved of tension and your muscles can finally relax.
It’s like lying on a bed of heather on the cliffs by the Swedish sea.

The collection:

The premium designer beds from Carpe Diem Beds are named after islands and hamlets on the west coast of Sweden.
Patented sleep solutions for maximum comfort is the basis for all beds in the collection.
Choose between continental beds, frame beds and adjustable beds – all offering unique benefits.
Design your individual bed by choosing its size, fabric, color, headboard, legs and the softness of the mattress.
These beds are handmade in Sweden with a focus on quality, comfort and sustainability.

Eight different patents:

  • In Carpe Diems Beds CS-Pocket, each spring can be controlled individually and is fitted with a latex cushion.
This means that you only sink in where pressure is applied to the springs.
The body is supported in the other areas – creating a weightless lying sensation.
  • The viscoelastic interlayer was developed in collaboration with chiropractors to relieve pressure on the most stressed springs and allow efficient blood circulation.
  • The X-Pocket patent is characterized by a middle layer of already loaded springs.
This allows the top layer of springs to better absorb and cushion the weight and give the body even greater stability.
  • The adjustable middle panel of the Skaftö bed is designed so that it can be adjusted in height and inclination.
This allows the bed to adapt even better to the body’s position and shape.
  • The lumbar support supports the seating position in our Vindö and Marstrand models and ensures an upright posture.
  • The edges of the Saltö and Marstrand bed frames have a soft polyester lining.
It prevents jamming when the bed is lowered.
  • Construction and design of the Kungsö bed foot.
  • Construction and design of the Hällsö bed foot.
