What a joy to walk through the aisles of this year's Stockholm Furniture Fair and the streets and showrooms of down town Stockholm during Stockholm Design Week. Good news left and right and old designs cherry picked out of the vast archives and re-launched. In this newsletter we'll concentrate on a few of our favourite news. We have already published news from String and Kasthall and will continue to publish even more on our inspiration page.
Carl Hansen & Søn's brand new flagship store in Stockholm
A limited edition of the CH-24 and lots more...
Carl Hansen & Søn has taken a good look into their archives, identified gems of the past and put them into production again! We're blown away by Børge Mogensen's Hunting table, Arne Jacobsen's desk with drawers and Poul Kjærholm's very comfortable PK1 chair with cane seat!
And since Hans J. Wegner's birthday is coming up, Carl Hansen & Søn has launched a limited version of their most sold chair: the CH24 in ancient oak with seat in natural paper cord. This beautiful version is only available between February 26th and April 4th 2018 for currently CHF 893.
By the way, Carl Hansen & Søn has just opened up a brand new showroom in Stockholm city. Yet another "go to" destination on the list for your next visit!
Asplund's new carpets in tencel
Asplund
Asplund's news were, quite rightly, mentioned all over the media! The Palais series, by Anya Sebton and Eva Lilja Löwenhielm, belonged to the most praised ones. The series incorporates a dining table and three different sofa and satellite tables. The design plays with elegance and luxury from the past combined with a pure Scandinavian expression.
Elegant and luxuriously looking rugs are a continuing trend. Asplund introduces the material tencel into their carpet collection. Tencel is a natural fibre, which is extracted from raw materials like eucalyptus and has many advantages in terms of sustainable, eco-friendly production. The raw material stems from fast growing forest plantations and not from forestland suitable for agriculture. In addition, water consumption is 10 to 20 times lower than with cotton.
Pagoda is the latest design from the hands of Broberg & Ridderstråle. The series features similarly sophisticated and elegant shapes as their hugely successful Tati series. The Pagoda series currently consists of a sideboard and two bookcases.

Arne Jacobsen's Egg, Swan and Drop chairs turn 60!
Fritz Hansen
At Fritz Hansen's stand, our eyes immediately found the new surface materials in the Poul Kjærholm table collection. The addition of a beautiful new beige and an elegant black marble to the already available stones, now makes the table range even more versatile. Fritz Hansen also re-launches Arne Jacobsen's Pot chair from 1959.
However, there were many more news from the Danish furniture producer. First and foremost the anniversaries of Arne Jacobsen's iconic designs: the Egg, Swan and Drop chairs. This is of course duly celebrated with a beautiful limited anniversary edition.

Fredericia at the Stockholm Furniture Fair
Fredericia
Ana is Fredericia's brand new, highly versatile extension table in beautiful colour and material combinations. The material samples are already in our shop and the table will follow later in April.
Din is a new, very elegant and comfortable armchair, which would put on a good show at a high end restaurant or in a luxurious board room.
Yksi is a younger design, with a high level of seating comfort, which is available with or without upholstered seat. A perfect match to Ana.
...and, we happened to overhear that Fredericia will launch even more new products very soon - among others the re-launch of one of our all-time favourite classics! We can't wait and promise to tell you all about it.

Sweden's special exhibition
Swedese
One of our favourite products, the Libri series, is finally available in a desk version: the Libri desk! It's a beautiful and practical extension to the series, which proves just as "simply genius" as the original Libri when it was launched.
In addition to an interesting special exhibition, for which Swedese collaborated with renowned designer duo Front and design students of the Carl Malmsten Design School, to come up with new products made with residual material out of their production, Swedese had also taken a deep dive into their archives and launched two oldies, but goodies:
Caryngo - a design by Sweden's two most well-known designers: Carl Malmsten and Swedese's Yngve Ektröm.
Thema - This is where it all started. Thema is an early example of a flat pack chair, which Yngve Ektröm presented to the designers of the renowned department store Nordiska Galleriet in Stockholm. The rest is design history...
