This spring, holm° will be concentrating on one of its favourite pastimes: spending time with family and friends over long and pleasant dinners or weekend breakfasts. Having the right pieces of furniture that work every day, or when you want to host a dinner party, might not be the easiest thing to figure out. Creating a space with an ambience that inspires interesting dialogues, and yet provides an inviting area in which to read the morning paper, might be just as tricky. We have prepared an exciting exhibition for you which not only features dining tables and chairs, but also those oh-so-important tabletop items and cooking utensils. Now you just have to plan what to cook!
Tables are the centre of a home
The Table
We were delighted when we first discovered the Essay table by Cecilie Manz, a designer we have come to expect a lot from as she has been producing design after design of simplistic beauty. Somehow, as with all of Cecilie Manz’s designs, simplicity coupled with ingeniously curved bases make this table truly beautiful. Luckily, Essay is produced by one of Scandinavia’s leading manufacturers – Fritz Hansen – who stands for excellent quality, producing a table that lasts a lifetime. Essay comes in four different woods and sizes with supplementary extension leaves in linoleum, which means that almost any dining room may be fortunate enough to accommodate it. holm° displays a version in oak with extension leaf.
Needless to say, there are more tables around! One of the true classics is the Table Series by Piet Hein, Bruno Mathsson and Arne Jacobsen. This series was based on the super-elliptic form, mathematically calculated by Piet Hein. In fact, this was the shape that was selected for the «Sergel» roundabout in the very centre of Stockholm at the beginning of the 1960’s. Later on, Fritz Hansen paired this form with the patented span legs by Bruno Mathsson to create the perfect table for communicating. Arne Jacobsen then added round and rectangular tabletops, as well as a shaker and pedestal base in order to create versions to fit any interior. There are also very popular extension tables in this series, as well as a version especially created with company interiors in mind: the foldable and stackable Table Series. holm° also displays other tables of different materials, shapes and sizes in the showroom.
The agony of choice
The Chair
Oh, how to find the perfect dining chair? This must be one of the most difficult things to do, considering there are hundreds out there that, at first glance, might fit the bill. We at holm° have done our homework and selected a collection of chairs, which we believe all serve the same purpose: to be beautiful, comfortable and timeless, whilst adding that extra something to your interior. There are classics as well as new designs, chairs with and without armrests, wooden and synthetic ones, as well as upholstered and un-upholstered models. We have tried and tested them all, but as with most things – it’s up to you to discover whether they are just as perfect for you and your home.
