Hiromichi Konno - Fritz Hansen

A chair must be the most difficult piece of furniture there is to design. You realize this once you walk your feet wound at any furniture fair longing to sit down in the first good looking chair you see to let some pressure off – and yet again become disappointed. There are so many chairs out there – stylish, exceptionally looking, classic and just plain ugly – but yet so few really comfortable. So imagine having the ambition to find a chair that is beautiful, can stand the test of time AND is comfortable! We’ve found one new design that fulfils all of our wishes: RIN by Hiromichi Konno.

Hiromichi Konno is a young talented Japanese designer with strong ties to Scandinavia. Due to his fascination for icons such as Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm or Poul Henningsen, he decided to study at the renowned Design Institute of Umeå, close to the polar circle, in Sweden.

After several years development, the Danish company Fritz Hansen is finally presenting RIN, their first chair by Hiromichi Konno. We believe it is a perfect mix of influences from both Scandinavia and Japan. There are several similarities between the Japanese and Scandinavian understanding of design: the focus on the essential, clean and clear lines and the use of natural materials and colours.

This chair is available in different colours, with or without upholstery. holm° shows RIN in light blue colour and in white with chromed legs. Prices start at CHF 872.
