Danish furniture of the year 2016

New in holm°s showroom: Hector - the new sofa from Erik Jørgensen.

How refreshing, to find a sofa, which is so different from all other designer sofas out there and yet so classic looking. Also, Hector is made of excellent materials and manufactured in superb craftsmanship. A sofa to love for many years to come!

In collaboration with Erik Jørgensen, the Norweigan Duo Andersson & Voll set out to create a sofa, which "expresses the soul of Erik Jørgensen’s furniture"*. Their work resulted in Hector, which features clean-cut lines and a cosy interior; a classic Erik Jørgensen sofa made for this century! The combined forces of Anderssen & Voll's design excellence and Erik Jørgsensen's experience in producing high quality upholstery furniture were awarded with the Danish Design Award for Furniture of the Year 2016!

Now, we have this wonderful sofa on display in our furniture store in Zurich, for you to try out, marvel at and fall in love with.

Read more about the history of Erik Jørgensen and get to know their other designer furniture:

Erik Jørgensen set up his workshop in Svendborg on the island of Fyn more that 60 years ago. His skills as a craftsman combined with his great knowledge of materials, still forms the core of the company's manufacturing philosophy. Throughout the years, close partnerships with architects and designers and suppliers of raw materials, make innovation and quality priority number one at Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik. This is also why this second-generation family-owned company continues to be known for its high quality and upholstery expertise.

During the 1960's, Erik Jørgensen worked with Poul M. Volther, known for his Corona Chair. Later on, during the 80's, Hans J. Wegner asked the company if they would produce his Ox Chair design from 1960. The Ox Chair is one of the most difficult chairs to upholster, which is why he approached Erik Jørgensen. The Ox Chair was launched in 1989 in Milan. holm° currently displays its "female counterpart", the Queen Chair, in the Zurich furniture store.

Erik Jørgensen has also formed successful collaborations with designers including Johannes Foersom and Peter Hiort-Lorenzen, Hannes Wettstein, Monika Förster and GamFratesi.
